03 2.0 TDCI dies then restarts 10mins later - paulontour : To clean the crank sensor takes no more than an hour. It is located under the the large hose connecting the air flow meter and the air inlet at the rear of the engine. It is attached by a 10mm bolt.
ben1191. The 2005 1.8 TDCI engine is equipped with both a timing belt and a chain. The crankshaft and diesel injection pump are connected by a chain. The diesel injection pump is connected to the camshaft by a timing belt. After 03-01-2008 Ford changed the chain which connects the crankshaft with the diesel injection pump for a so called wet belt.
Mondeo TDCi Starting Problems. I have a 2 month old TDCi that intermittantly is difficult to start. When the problem occurs the engine cranks but does not fire.There is a beeping sound from under the bonnet and the glow plug dash light flashes. Slackened off the tensioner and removed the bolts; pulley off. (I had replaced the belt and tensioner only 3000 miles ago so didn't change them again). Replaced the pulley wheel whilst the drive on the tensioner was tied back to the driveshaft. Got someone to stand on the brake pedal whilst torquing up the bolts. job done.
