Chrysler surprised all at the 2022 North American International Auto Show and online by revealing the return of the 300C as the performance flagship, and 'last of a legend'. It will come as a limited-edition model, with a 6.4-liter V8 HEMI engine, providing 485 hp, 475 lb-ft, and a 0-60 mph time of 4.3 seconds and 1/4-mile time of 12.4 seconds. The 5.7 is basically a truck engine - typically good for 250,000 miles before an overhaul. The 6.1 is actually better engineered - sodium cooled valves, more oil passages, oil squirters to cool the pistons, etc. Basically built to sell to owners who run hard. Most notable in the Chrysler 300C SRT Design edition was the switch under the hood from the SRT-tuned 6.1-L Hemi to the convention­al 5.7-L V-8. Although giving up 75 ponies and 30 pound-feet of torque, the standard version of the Hemi still cranked out a sufficient 350 h.p. and 390 pound-feet of torque to satisfy the demands of most users.

In 2003, when the concept Chrysler SRT-8 was first shown to the public, it was introduced as having "over 400 horsepower." On August 13, 2004, the actual SRT-8 debuted with 425 horsepower, coming from a 6.1 liter Hemi powerplant.
The Hemi in Chrysler's SRT8 lives by the no-replacement-for-displacement credo. But not only did they make the Hemi bigger, they made it into a high-winder. The stroke remains at 3.58 inches, but cylinder bore grows from 3.92 to 4.06 inches, making 370 cubic inches (up from 345 in lesser 300s).
